LED light bars are awesome โ but use them wrong and you'll get a ticket.
Here are the 5 mistakes to AVOID:
โ 1. Using light bars on public roads
โ Cover them when not off-roading. Many states require covers.
โ 2. Wiring directly to the battery
โ Always use a relay + switch. Direct wiring = fire risk.
โ 3. Mounting above the windshield
โ Check your state's height limit. Many cap it at 42 inches.
โ 4. Choosing cheap knockoff bars
โ They flicker, overheat, and fail IP67 waterproofing tests. Not worth the $20 savings.
โ 5. Forgetting to aim them
โ Unaimed light bars blind other drivers. Take 5 minutes to aim properly.
โ
DO THIS INSTEAD:
โ Buy DOT-approved bars
โ Use a wiring harness with relay
โ Check local laws before installing
โ Aim lights at a wall, 25 feet away
